Through visits to Sing Sing Correctional Facility (via Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections program) and Chicago’s Illinois Youth Center (in collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Joyce DiDonato is connecting with incarcerated persons to express their individuality, creativity, and personal struggles through music. She works with inmates on their original musical compositions, and connects with them through live performance and conversation.

“Joyce DiDonato, one of the world’s greatest opera singers, is inspiring maximum-security prison inmates with her voice. Sing Sing is one of the most notorious prisons in the world, and it’s there that DiDonato has broken stereotypes and created a bond with prisoners using classical music theory.” – The Today Show
