World Premiere of ‘House of Tomorrow’
On September 26 and 27, Joyce DiDonato makes her St. Louis Symphony Orchestra debut, singing the world premiere of Kevin Puts’ House of Tomorrow. Commissioned by the SLSO, this song cycle for mezzo-soprano, chorus, and orchestra is based on Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, one of the best-selling and most translated books of all time.
Led by music director Stéphane Denève, the orchestra will also present another world premiere commission, James Lee III’s Fanfare for Universal Hope, which will be presented in conversation with Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman No. 1, and Richard Strauss’ tone poem, Ein Heldenleben.
