Upcoming release of Purcell's Dido & Aeneas

Dido’s lament, ‘When I am laid in earth’, has long been one of Joyce DiDonato’s signature arias, but she only performed Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas in its entirety for the first time in 2024. In this upcoming album, recorded live at the Essen Philharmonie, she can be heard in the title role alongside her frequent collaborators, Il Pomo d’Oro and conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, and a cast including Michael Spyres, Fatma Said, Beth Taylor, Hugh Cutting, and Laurence Kilsby. The release date is August 22, 2025.
