On August 14 and 16, Joyce DiDonato makes her debut at the Bregenzer Festspiele in the world premiere of Emily – No Prisoner Be, a bold new work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts. Commissioned by the festival, Emily – No Prisoner Be is inspired by the vivid and introspective poetry of Emily Dickinson.

These performances unite Joyce with the boundary-blurring trio Time for Three, under the inventive direction of Andrew Staples. Together, they craft an immersive blend of music and theater that brings Dickinson’s inner world to life, one filled with emotional depth, spiritual yearning, and fierce individuality.

This season, audiences will have several opportunities to hear Joyce perform this exceptional new work. Emily – No Prisoner Be comes to Chicago’s Symphony Center on February 10, New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 19, and Princeton University on February 22, with more dates to be announced.
