Joyce DiDonato revisits Schubert’s masterwork, Winterreise, this month, with two performances in Vienna and Baden-Baden. On June 27, she performs the work with pianist Maxim Emelyanychev at the Musikverein Wien. Following this engagement, she reunites with conductor-pianist Yannick Nézet-Séguin for a performance on July 2 at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

Joyce gave her first performance of Winterreise with Yannick in 2018 in her hometown of Kansas City. The Independent Kansas City called their performance an inspiring special event, “where you rarely get to see two musical superstars pull off a work of this magnitude.” They’ve since performed this brilliant song cycle on tour in North America and released a critically acclaimed recording with Warner Classics / Erato. More information and purchase links are available via her Recordings.

“Few women sing Schubert’s desolate, passionate anti-odyssey of the rejected male lover, but when they do it can be memorable. Never more so than in this superb performance, where Nézet-Séguin is the perfect companion. DiDonato has a voice of rare beauty, but even more heartbreaking than the loveliness of her singing is her endlessly varied dramatic colouring of the text. Incomparable.” ~ The Sunday Times
