Joyce DiDonato returns to the Dallas Opera this month for their “VIVA OPERA!” virtual fundraiser and a special “VIVA DIVA!” concert on May 10 at 7pm.

The Dallas Opera’s virtual spring gala will stream on TDO’s website beginning Friday, May 7 at 7 p.m. The event, which is also available for on-demand viewing through June 4, stars DiDonato, soprano Ailyn Pérez, countertenor John Holiday, and baritone Lucas Meacham in selections from The Barber of Seville and Great Scott, and in recital. Funds raised benefit The Dallas Opera’s artistic and learning programs.

On Monday, May 10, Joyce joins The Dallas Opera Orchestra conducted by Music Director Emmanuel Villaume for “VIVA DIVA!” Together, they will perform a program featuring Jake Heggie’s song cycle Camille Claudel: Into the Fire (DiDonato premiered the cycle back in 2012) and Berlioz’s La mort de Cléopâtre (The Death of Cleopatra). The concert will also include Beethoven’s “Coriolan” Overture. To learn more about the concert, check out the Dallas Opera’s program notes.
