Rossini's 'Giovanna D'Arco' with Antonio Pappano
Joyce DiDonato joins the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the baton of music director, Antonio Pappano, for Rossini’s Giovanna D’Arco, with orchestration by Salvatore Sciarrino. The cantata Giovanna d’Arco from the original for piano and voice was transcribed for orchestra by Salvatore Sciarrino keeping intact all the Rossinian stylistic elements. Performances will take place on June 4, 5 & 6 at the Sala Santa Cecilia, and on June 7 at the Basilica of Saint-Denis. The program also includes Haydn’s festive Te Deum featuring the Accademia’s chorus, Brahms’ Serenade No. 1, and Rossini’s Overture to Le siège de Corinthe.
Ms. DiDonato has collaborated extensively with Maestro Pappano: in 2010 they recorded Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Choir and Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia (Warner Classics/Erato), and in 2015, Erato released their Joyce & Tony: Live at Wigmore Hall recording, which received the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Classical Vocal Solo Album.
