This spring, Joyce DiDonato returns to Strasbourg for two concert performances of Berlioz’s La damnation de Faust, under the baton of John Nelson. In April 2017, Joyce sang two concert performances of Berlioz’s Les Troyens in Strasbourg, led by Mr. Nelson who is a renowned master of Berlioz’s music, with the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg and a spectacular cast. The performances were recorded live and released by Erato, garnering critical acclaim and awards like Gramophone’s 2018 Recording of the Year. On April 25 & 26, Ms. DiDonato will sing Marguerite and she shares the stage with a cast including Michael Spyres as Faust, Nicolas Courjal as Méphistophélès, and Alexandre Duhamel as Brander. John Nelson conducts the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg, Maîtrise de l’Opéra national du Rhin, Les Petits Chanteurs de Strasbourg, and the Gulbenkian Choir. Joyce can also be heard singing the aria “D’amour l’ardente flame” from the opera on her album ReJOYCE!
