Joyce DiDonato earned Gramophone’s Recording of the Year & Opera for her critically acclaimed recording of Berlioz’ Les Troyens as Didon, under the baton of John Nelson with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. Described by Gramophone as a ‘peach of a recording’ the album swept the title at this year’s Gramophone Awards.

Additionally, her recording of American diva Arden Scott in Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s Great Scott was listed in Gramophone’s Recordings of the Year digital magazine as a February Editor’s Choice:

“Heggie gets to spoof the sub-Rossinian bel canto on an elaborate scale (up to and including those celebrated crescendos) but in so doing manages to transcend mere pastiche in the creation of genuinely elegant and beautiful lines and authentic vocal fireworks that challenge and tax DiDonato as surely as the roles in her core repertoire. The operatic set pieces here truly have a ring of authenticity to them.” (Gramophone)
