This September, Joyce DiDonato begins her 2018/19 season with concerts at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the BBC Proms in London.

The Elbphilharmonie Hamburg presents Ms. DiDonato in a sold-out concert on September 2 at the Grosser Saal with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and his Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. Mr. Gardiner’s ensemble is known for using period instruments and instrumental techniques to craft a historically informed performance. The concert features an all-Berlioz program to mark the opening of the new Elbphilharmonie season. Ms. DiDonato will sing Dido’s death scene from Les Troyens, La mort de Cléopâtre, with Berlioz’ Overture Le corsaire, Royal Hunt and Storm from Les Troyens, and Symphonie fantastique concluding the program.

Shortly after, Joyce will return to the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Prom season in a performance with violist Antoine Tamestit, Maestro Gardiner and his ensemble. This significant event for British culture is an eight-week long season bringing daily classical music concerts to London. On September 5, the performance will include a similar program from the previous except that the last piece of the program will be Berlioz’ symphony Harold in Italy. Violist Antoine Tamestit will join the ensembles for the performance.
