Joyce DiDonato celebrates the centennial of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra at their Jubilee Concert on June 9 and 10 at the Grote zaal, de Doelen in the Netherlands. This marks Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s last concert as music director of the RPhO and he will be joined by Joyce for a night of stunning music. An important milestone for this world-class orchestra, the group formed in 1918 as the “Society of Professional Musicians for Mutual Cultivation of the Arts” in Rotterdam. The program will begin with DiDonato’s prized arias by Händel, Mozart, Bellini, and Rossini, and will also include Mozart’s ‘Haffner’ Symphony, Boccherini/Berio’s Ritirata notturna di Madrid, and Respighi’s Pini di Roma.

Listen to a LIVE broadcast of the event on Saturday June 9, 2018 from Medici.tv at 2:15 PM (EDT) via the following link.

“This anniversary concert is also my farewell as chef: a festive program that reflects what we have built up together. One big crescendo: we start very small, to end with the gigantic orchestral occupation of Respighi’s Pini di Roma. A common thread is a sense of optimism for the future: that is the message I want to put to a stop in my first decade in Rotterdam.” -Yannick Nézet-Séguin
