Joyce DiDonato returns to The Metropolitan Opera next month in a stunning production of Rossini’s bel canto gem, La Donna del Lago. Ms. DiDonato was originally seen in this production in Santa Fe in 2013,  which was the “highlight of the summer” (New York Classical Review) and a showcase vehicle for Joyce in one of her signature roles: “. . . Joyce DiDonato absolutely shines. She astounds as she easily tosses off all of the virtuosic acrobatics, all the time maintaining a sympathetic character who is so torn by events and conflicting loyalties that she teeters on madness. You believe her every minute.” (TheaterJones) La Donna del Lago was such a success in Santa Fe that they added an additional performance of the opera to the calendar, for the first time in company history. Enjoy The Met’s video preview of this incredible production.

She reunites with tenor Juan Diego Flórez, who sings the role of Giacomo V (they were last seen together at The Met in La Cenerentola), along with other spectacular colleagues including Daniela Barcellona as Malcolm Groeme, John Osborn as Rodrigo di Dhu, and Oren Gradus as Douglas d’Angus, with Maestro Michele Mariotti leading the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Performances take place February 16, 20, 25 & 28, and March 3, 7, 10 & 14La Donna del Lago will also receive a Live in HD broadcast worldwide on March 14, with encores in the U.S. and Canada.
