The Dallas Opera recently announced this year’s “Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year Award” goes to audience favorite Joyce Didonato. First awarded during The Dallas Opera’s 1991-1992 season, the distinction is named after one of the most renowned opera singers of the 20th century. It is presented to one performer every season to recognize their exceptional performance in a company debut. The Grammy award-winning mezzo-soprano, Joyce DiDonato was selected for her sensational performance in Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s Great Scott.
