This autumn, Joyce DiDonato will create the role of Arden Scott in the world premiere of Great Scott at The Dallas Opera, with a score by Jake Heggie and a libretto by Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally. Ms. DiDonato has previously performed several of Mr. Heggie’s works, including the critically acclaimed world premiere of a song cycle based on the life of French sculptress Camille Claudel, and she sang “extraordinary” performances as Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking at Houston Grand Opera and New York City Opera.

The spectacular cast of Great Scott also features Frederica von Stade as Mrs. Edward “Winnie” Flato, Ailyn Pérez as Tatyana Bakst, and Nathan Gunn is Sid Taylor, with Patrick Summers leading The Dallas Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Critically acclaimed director Jack O’Brien and set/costume designer Bob Crowley have created this new production, with performances taking place at the Winspear Opera House October 30 and November 1, 4, 7 & 15.
